Prior to embarking on his dental career, Dr. Stark spent four years as a research scientist in the Pharmaceutical and Dermatological divisions of Johnson and Johnson. While there he was nominated for the Johnson and Johnson Vice Presidential Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement for his work in developing a unique drug releasing film for use in treating nail bed infections. After his position there, Dr. Stark entered and later graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1983.
The next year he went on to complete an optional one year General Practice Residency Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Several years after being in private practice, Dr. Stark earned the honor of becoming a Fellow of The Academy of General Dentistry, which required an ongoing commitment to continuing education in the dental field. Only ten percent of dentists nationwide have achieved that honor.
Then in 2007, Dr Stark earned the honor of becoming a Diplomat of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, which means that he is one of the very few Dentists in New Jersey that is actually Board Certified to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea with oral appliances. In that same year, Dr. Stark also co-authored a research paper on oral sleep apnea appliances that he presented at the annual conference of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and was also asked to become a member of a team of specialists that provide the Pillar Procedure for patients that suffer from sleep apnea. He has also been selected by the Dentsply Corporation, which is one of the largest manufacturers of dental products in the world, to become an evaluator for their new unreleased products.
Dr. Stark maintains a private practice that he started in Somerset, NJ in 1987.
